Laser Retina Surgery Laser Eye Surgery Information
  • I have a detached retinal?

It’s been a month and now I can only see in my right eye; my specialist said I came right in the dead line and I’m getting surgery on Tuesday. He said there’s a 50-50 chance i’ll get my eye back really good. Do you think i’ll get my eye sight back? I can see movement and lights ; oh and I’m 13 and I use to wear contacts now I don’t and my glasses are on the way. Thanks in advance.

  1. My dad had this at a much older age than you and after the operation, he was fine and could see perfectly. It is not an uncommon problem and a routine operation. goodluck to you.

don’t worry i think you will get your sight back for the most part.
i started noticing floaters in dec 2007 so i saw my dr but he didn’t see anthing and told me to call asap if i noticed it got wors and it suddenly got worse in mid january but i couldn’t get into the dr until feb 1st and then i had my surgery on feb 4th of 2008. and i got all my vision back. unfortunetely it detached again and when i went in for surgery that time i could only see movements just like you. that timie i got most of my vision back but i’ve lost a tiny bit and now i have a cataract so that is making the vision in that eye much worse.

just be prepared to have to keep your head face down for at least a week 24/7.
it really sucks but you will get through it. and there is some pain involved but it goes away. and you will be taking eye drops at least 3 times a day for a few weeks.

i suggest that before you go you put your matress on the floor and get a bunch of pillows and put them on the floor infront of the mattress so there is some breathing area betwen the edge of the mattress and the pile of pillows. this will help you sleep with out suficating. (if i only had that thought after the first surgery but no i came up with that for the second one)
if you need to talk feel free to email me.
    good luck!
